When Space Dissolves into Luminosity; Where Flowers Bloom Amidst Rocks, iPreciation Gallery, 15 April – 29 April 2017

iPreciation presents an exhibition comprising works by 10 Singaporean artists, which spans different mediums ranging from sculptures, paintings, prints and mixed media, and seeks to examine how artists approach questions of authenticity while navigating the ever complex world. Artists involved include Chiew Sien Kuan, Chng Seok Tin, Chua Chon Hee, Lynn Lim, Han Sai Por, Lim Soo Ngee, Yang Zhong Da, Oh Chai Hoo, Ng Siok Hoon and Terence Tan. More information.

CITY65 Music Festival 2017, 15 Apr, 1pm, Tin Hill Social Kitchen and Bar

CITY65 Music Festival is the inaugural edition of a new family-friendly music festival curated by Mike’s Musician Friends, a Facebook community started by musician Mike Spinks to bring together and nurture local musicians. The festival is dedicated to showcasing original music made in Singapore; the line-up of 13 artistes include Jack and Rai, Bryan Chua, Sam Driscoll, KINDS, Stopgap, stillsunrisemusic and more, playing on two separate stages – one acoustic and one electric. More information.

AfterWords — Moon Jam, 13 April, 7:30pm, Marine Parade Public Library,

AfterWords by Ethos Books is a book discussion and sharing platform to encourage readership for local writers. This interactive event invites the audience to respond to writing prompts and creating flash fiction, art (and beyond) with Clara Chow (Dream Storeys) and guest artist Chun Kai Qun (Young Artist Award recipient, 2015). Work generated in this 1.5-hour workshop will be turned into a zine by Ethos Books and mailed to all attendees the next week. The Studios 2017: RAW: precise purpose of being broken, 13 – 14 April, 8pm, Esplanade Theatre Studio

RAW is a developmental platform within The Studios for artists to present their works-in-progress. precise purpose of being broken is a new work-in-progress adapted from a special collage of 10 texts by Haresh Sharma, some of which have never been published or even staged. This performance is directed by theatre-maker Koh Wan Ching (nominee for Best Director in the 2016 Life! Theatre Awards), and designed in collaboration with Jason Ng. It is devised and developed with a strong ensemble of diverse, versatile female performers – Chelsea Crothers, Chng Xin Xuan, Grace Kalaiselvi, Lina Yu and Wendi Wee Hian. More information.
