Tina Fung is a set designer and installation artist who runs Space Objekt, a design studio based in Singapore.
In this video, Tina Fung talks about art installations and the process involved in setting up an installation, including the different phases. She also discusses her journey into the arts and her sources of inspiration.
This video was directed and conceptualised by LASALLE students Chia Wei Ling and Ashley Song. “We were intrigued by how Tina uses the elements of space and light in her works. We were also interested to explore the intersection of design and art through her perspective, as well as to explore the ways audiences interact with her work,” they explain.
Each year, 1st year students in LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore’s BA in Arts Management program embark on a research and documentation project as part of their History and Contextual Studies module. Between January and April 2022, teams of students interview an artists or arts group each, to better understand an aspect of their practice, and to produce the result of the interview in the form of a video. The students are given creative freedom in how they executed the brief and shoot and edit their videos. Five of the best videos are published on ArtsEquator.
This interview with Tina Fung is the first of a series of video projects in 2022 by BA Arts Management students of LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. For past videos in this series, click here.
