[Singapore] Venue Hire Subsidy for Performances, Exhibitions, Rehearsals

Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) has extended its subsidy for venue hire and in-house production costs for another three months from 1 April 2022 to 30 June 2022, at a subsidy level of 30%. The subsidy will be ceased thereafter.


[Singapore] Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG)

The Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) provides one-off cash support to SMEs that have been most affected by COVID-19 restrictions over the past year, like those in the F&B, Retail, Tourism and Hospitality sectors. IRAS will notify eligible firms starting from June 2022.


[Singapore] COVID-19 Recovery Grant

The COVID-19 Recovery Grant (CRG) provides temporary financial support to workers in lower- to middle-income households who are presently experiencing involuntary job loss, involuntary no-pay leave (NPL) or income loss due to the economic impact of COVID-19. Open to Self Employed Persons and part-/full-time employees.

Applications are open till 31 December 2022.


[Singapore] Temasek Trust-CDC Lifelong Learning Enabling Fund

The Temasek Trust-CDC Lifelong Learning Enabling Fund is a S$4 million community fund set up to support persons with disabilities in acquiring relevant vocational and independent living skills and emerge stronger from the pandemic.

This Fund is available for one year only until 31 Dec 2022.

[Singapore] Sing Lit Station HALP Fund

The HALP Fund is a discretionary fund used by Sing Lit Station to support literary arts practitioners in the creation and presentation of their work in any form. It also aims to provide subsistence funds during tough times. The maximum quantum will be $500 per application. Applications will be held year-round until 31 March 2021 or until funds are fully disbursed, whichever comes first.

Open Call: Land Transport Authority (LTA) Art in Transit (Cross Island Line)

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is looking for artists to create artworks for the upcoming Cross Island MRT Line as part of the Art in Transit Programme, Singapore’s largest public art programme. If selected, you will be invited to propose original art concepts to be developed and integrated into the stations.

[Korea/International] Open Call: PAMS Pitching

PAMS Pitching is a program with the aim of finding partners for international cooperation by promoting works and organisations through various methods. During the pitching sessions, participants will introduce their works/organisations and projects at the pre-creation stage to attract funding from partners. They would like to encourage active participation of diverse performing artists in PAMS Pitching 2022 to find partners for international cooperation in overseas touring, international co-production and residencies.

Open Call: ARTEFACT Creative Residencies 2022/2023

DANCE NUCLEUS welcomes proposals for creative residencies that will take place by March 2023. The ARTEFACT residency is open to artists working in independent dance and performance, and is intended to support the creative development of research-based practices.

Open Call: Production Bridging Initiative

In 2022, The Production Bridging Initiative will be focusing its effort in grooming Production Managers, as an attempt to contribute to the current supply gap of production managers in the local theatre scene.

The selected individual can acquire industry knowledge by working on a broad range of different programmes, from black box shows to outdoor community theatre performances. This will ensure the participant not only receives a broad range of management experience, but gets to hone the different and specific skill sets needed for the respective production types.

Call for Proposals: The Second Link: A Malaysia-Singapore Literary Anthology

Marshall Cavendish International’s vision for this anthology is one that will bring together writers to reflect critically and creatively on our intertwined pasts and futures, and serve as a landmark showcase of creative writing from Malaysia and Singapore. They invite writers to reflect on the anniversary through three frames – the past, present and the future – by submitting proposals engaging directly or elliptically with each.

They are not looking for straightforward socio political and geopolitical analyses, political manifestos, historical research or the like. The works can include these elements but should ultimately aim to be literary in tone. They are keen to include memoirs, alternative histories, speculative fiction, collage work or creative explorations of heritage, culture and linguistics.

Open Call: Issue 4 ‘Wildcard’ (Mahogany Journal)

For Mahogany Journal’s fourth open call “Wildcard”, they are seeking poetry and short stories of all themes and topics, as long as they carry a +65 South Asian focus. Possible topics include – but are not limited to – body image and politics, community and culture, disease and death, erasure and representation, feminism and patriarchy, gender and sexuality, as well as religion and philosophy.

Call for Applications: ASEAN-EU Cultural Festival 2022

The ASEAN-EU Cultural Festival is a public arts festival showcasing artistic excellence from and collaborations among the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). It aims to promote people-to-people linkages and connectivity between Europe and Southeast Asia through cross regional exchanges in the field of culture, arts and music.

The festival wishes to take a close look at the youth and the young creation and formats, bringing together cultural activists from both regions, and acting as a meeting place for film directors and producers, dancers, performers, artists from all arts disciplines.

Singapore Unbound Awards for the Best Undergraduate Critical Essays on Singapore and Other Literatures 

For the second year running, Singapore Unbound, a NYC-based literary non-profit, will be giving out three awards of USD250.00 each for the best three undergraduate critical essays on topics in Singapore and other literatures. The purpose of these awards is to encourage the teaching and study of Singapore literature at college level and the cultivation of general appreciation for the character and achievements of Singapore literature.

Call for Submissions: Epigram Books Fiction Prize 2023

Established in 2015, the Epigram Books Fiction Prize (EBFP) was initiated to promote contemporary Singapore creative writing and reward excellence in Singapore literature. Since 2020, the EBFP has been open to writers from Southeast Asia.

Writers must be citizens and permanent residents of Southeast Asia. Each submission must be a full-length, original and unpublished manuscript of at least 40,000 words, written in the English language. Translated works are also allowed, although terms and conditions apply.

Open Call: The Yale Drama Series 2023 Playwriting Competition

The Yale Drama Series is seeking submissions for its 2023 playwriting competition. The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Jeremy O. Harris. The winner of this annual competition will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of their manuscript by Yale University Press, and a celebratory event. The prize and publication are contingent on the playwright’s agreeing to the terms of the publishing agreement.

The Yale Drama Series Competition strongly urges electronic submission. By electronically submitting your script, you will receive immediate confirmation of your successful submission and the ability to check the status of your entry. They will accept hardcopies.

Open Call: Permisi

P7:1SMA is calling for applications for Permisi, a sharing space where one can share or ask for feedback for any brewing ideas or creation with the larger community. Each sharing will be for 30 minutes, inclusive of a conversation circle.

‘Permisi’ is an interjection in Malay-Indonesian that is commonly used in speech to apologise when seeking a clarification. This effort is a homage to Eng Kai Er’s ‘Make it Share it’ Philosophy.

Call for Submissions: 13-19 Art Prize (The 2nd Edition)

Launched in 2021, the 13-19 Art Prize is an annual art competition which seeks to recognise and celebrate young art talents in Singapore, while also imparting values of giving-back to the community to support their peers from disadvantaged backgrounds through the arts.

The 2nd edition of the 13-19 Art Prize sees the Prize going beyond Singapore to include talents from Southeast Asia. 2022 will see the Digital artwork category welcome entries from youths aged 13-19 residing in the region. The Canvas artwork category will remain open only to those residing in Singapore.

The Tiger Moth Review, a new and independent eco-conscious journal from Singapore, is calling for submissions of poetry, prose, art and photography that emphasises the connections between “human activity and the environment that produces it”, work that displays an “awareness of ecology and concerns over environmental disaster” (“Ecopoetics”, Poetry Foundation).

Project Coordinator with Aaron Yip

Apply to work as a project coordinator for a new travel storytelling project (think Humans of New York but for traveling Thailand). You will be interviewing local vendors and shop owners throughout Thailand and listening to their stories. This position pays 30,000 baht per month (your travel, housing, and food expenses will be paid for). It’s about 4-6 hours of work per day.

You will be traveling and working with Aaron Yip, a Californian artist turned humanitarian (helping NGOs). For the past few years, he collaborated with folks from UNHCR to care for vulnerable women and girls across Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.

Some roles include:

Supporting the Office of Administration, the Executive will work largely alongside the Arts faculties to provide an efficient conducive and creative learning environment for staff and students of SOTA.

Some roles include:
