– Singaporean, Thai and/or Filipino descent
– Working knowledge of local dialects/native languages is imperative

Acting Masterclass by Oliver Chong

Period: 22 – 27 Jul, 29 Jul – 2 Aug and 5 – 8 Aug 2019 (Total: 15 sessions x 4hr/session)

In this intensive 3-week acting masterclass, up to 15 selected participants will work on strengthening control and flexibility of the mind, body and spirit in order to make conscious, deliberate artistic choices from rehearsal room to stage. Guided and directed by Oliver Chong, participants will learn to develop and deepen characterisation and delivery through various improvisations, exercises, games and actor training methods such as Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, Suzuki Method of Actor Training and Viewpoints.

Suzuki Method of Actor Training and Viewpoints Class by Nine Years Theatre

Suzuki Method of Actor Training (SMAT) and Viewpoints classes will be taught on the same day (SMAT in the morning; Viewpoints in afternoon) so that participants may have the opportunity to experience both trainings together in the same period. It is possible to attend either SMAT or Viewpoints only. However, participants are encouraged to attend both classes to maximise their experience in the complementary nature of the 2 trainings.Both the Suzuki Method of Actor Training and Viewpoints are training methods that require time to sit in the mind and body of a performer. With 2 weeks of class, we aim to impart the format and philosophy of the training to the participants. Participants are welcomed to join our free-of-charge open platform SMAT & Viewpoints Jam thereafter to deepen the training.

Production Mentorship Programme with M1 Peer Pleasure Youth Theatre Festival

The Production Mentorship Programme offers a unique platform for youths aged 17 – 25 years old to learn about production and stage management from theatre professionals through an action-learning process. These skills will be put into action during the M1 Peer Pleasure Youth Theatre Festival happening from 24 July – 4 August 2019 at various venues around the Esplanade -Theatres on the Bay.

Through supporting the live shows as crew and operators, you will get an an eye-opening chance to experience what goes into putting up a professional performance.

JOB SCOPE
• You will be reporting to the Producing/Production Team Lead and Technical Director.
• You will be involved in coordinating and / or executing technical preparation for Practice’s main season, festival, school and community productions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• To assist the Technical Director to ensure the efficient running of the technical/production and to provide safe, tidy and welcoming, working environment within the building.
• To work with external Production Manager(s) and Stage Manager(s) in managing technical and manpower resources.
• To provide technical facilities/support for Practice’s production and events.
• To assist in all technical aspects of load in and strike during Practice’s productions.
• To assist in the maintenance of all equipment and restoration of all spaces in Practice.
• To support and ensure the smooth running of hirer’s events in all spaces in Practice.
• To be responsible with the Technical Director in evaluating the competency of the hirer in their use of rigging, electrical equipment etc. Risk assessing their method of erecting set items and fixing to bars and ensuring that the equipment used is in good working condition.
• To ensure the highest level of professionalism is achieved in the staging of all events at Practice. You will work closely with the hirer and artists both professional and amateur and be fully conversant with their stage and technical requirements.
• To review, organise and archive final technical documentations / deliverables diligently.
• To maintain good working relationship with technical contractors and suppliers.
• To be responsible for checking and locking up the theatre and backstage areas at the end of the working day.

INXO Arts Fund – A Funding Project for Cultural & Arts Creation

INXO Arts Fund – A Funding Project for Cultural & Arts Creation is organised by INXO Arts and Culture Foundation. INXO Arts Fund aspires to be the launch pad to accelerate broader artistic participation among new, young artistic talents in the region and to elevate artistic practice and production standards for advanced professional development. INXO Arts Fund serves as an enabler and multiplier of cultural and arts development for the young generation and in addition provides funding, conceptual and technical guidance, support and resources.

Since 2017, INXO Arts Fund has given out RM200,000 of funding and sponsored 26 projects, including performing arts, audio visual arts, documentary, community projects, photography and more. This year, INXO Arts Fund will also provide total grants of RM100,000 to 10 selected proposals (RM3,000 to RM10,000 for each proposal) and mentoring resource such as technical guidance, counselling and crowd funding tutorage.

Who is eligible?

Malaysian citizens of 18-35 years of age as of the submission year. All proposals are required to depict cultural or arts themes. No restriction on form or style except handicrafts, which must take the form of a physical object.

Dramaturgy and Technology Workshop by Asian Dramaturgs Network

With technology adding layers and complexity to performance-making in this digital age, the work of developing and maintaining dramaturgical coherence demands critical attention. In these two workshops aimed at giving local arts practitioners insight and hands-on experience into performance and technology, artists Martyn Coutts (Australia) and Su Wen-Chi (Taiwan) will each conduct a four-hour immersive workshop that will highlight their ways of working with technology in performance.

We’re looking for comic artists aged 18 and above residing in all SEA countries (that means Brunei, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), who are working to elevate their comic-making practise, whether it takes the form of an ambitious long-form comic project or professional comics practise.
