Kineforum, the alternative cinema in Jakarta, presents 4 out of the 8 documentaries that was submitted to the Festival Film Dokumenter Yogyakarta in 2016. The 4 films screened will be “Jembatan Sibuk”, “Mata Elang”, “Miang Meng Jakarta”, and “Petani Terakhir”. Festival Film Dokumenter Yogyakarta was created to celebrate new seeds of storytellers and audience. Film screenings in kineforum is open to public with a donation of IDR 20K per seat. The Disappearing Sounds series presents the Voice of the Voiceless – a series of documentary films that aims to record the voice of those marginalized before their voices are lost forever. The three films that will be screend include “Bangkit dari Bisu”, “Sang Penari”, and “Senandung Sunyi Samudera”. These films were previously screed at ScreenDocs 2016. Remember Me is a visual art exhibition that explores various life purposes through one simple question: What would I like to be remembered as? In this exhibition, art is not only used to express and share a vision, but also as a medium to share a legacy that would be useful in the future. Presented by students of Erudio School of Art, artist Lala Bohang, and members of Dattabot Dojo, this exhibition invites visitors to reflect and revisit their life purposes. Tiga Negeri: Peranakan Fashion and Collection of Edward Hutabarat, Didi Budiarjo and Adrian Gan, Now – 5 February 2017, Jakarta
Based on their fascinations with Peranakan Culture, Indonesia’s acclaimed fashion designers Edward Hutabarat, Didi Budiarjo, and Adrian Gan created Tiga Negeri, an installation show showcasing their modern interpretation of traditional Peranakan elements. The theree designers will also showcase their personal antique Peranakan collections including jewelries and Kebayas. Karawitan Panca Budaya Laras presents a night of traditional gamelan music titled Klenengan Slasa Legen. Some communities in Solo still maintains the tradition of karawitan/ traditional gamelan music. This includes the Karawitan Panca Budaya Laras group that practices at the village head’s residence on a weekly basis. Come to Balai Soedjatmoko on 30 January to enjoy their gamelan music. Sinema Bentara – Humanisme Lintas Bangsa, 30-31 January 2017, Bentara Budaya Bali, 5:00 PM
This edition of Sinema Bentara presents stories that reflect on humanities to present different perspectives across nations. The stories share about humanity through the character daily lives, such as the story of a color-blind boy in a village in Iran as he strives for success to overcome his parents’ embarrassment of his condition. Four movies that will be screened are The Intouchables, (30 Jan, 6 PM), PK (30 Jan, 8 PM), Blue Eyed Boy (31 Jan, 6 PM), and Doctor Zhivago (31 Jan, 6:30 PM). Workshop Tari Jaipong & Kontemporer Fusion, 4-5 February 2017
Presented in collaboration with Sanggar Seni Kinanti Sekar, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta is holding Tari Jaipong and contemporary fusion dance workshop. The workshop will be presented by Awan Metro and Rosmala Sari Dewi. Participants will be provided with snacks and lunch, and will be presented with a certificate at the completion of the workshop.
