Come join the Jakarta Arts Council’s literature committee in their 10th public lecture titled Sastra, Hoaks & Humaniora. This 10th edition of literature discussion invites Melani Budianta, an academic from Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Humanities. Through this program, the Jakarta Arts Council’s literature committee aims to bridge production of literature works and the academics so they can work hand-in-hand. Catch a film at Kineforum and be part of a discussion on growing up! Part of Kineforum’s Kawah Chandradimuka program, “#Sesibukabukaan” is a discussion session where people can open up, share, and discuss the pressures that are given to the younger generation to grow up, especially pressures from older generations who don’t fully understand the younger generation. This open discussion will also discuss the stigma and fear that are related to growing up. To complete your experience, also catch the screening of Beyond Silence at 2:30 PM or Galih and Ratna at 7:30 PM. Both films share a theme of the adolescent life and growing up. Artpression 16 Perempuan Memandang Dunia, Now – 20 January 2018, Galeri Cipta II, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta

Supported by the Jakarta Arts Council and the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Children Protection, Artpression presents visual artworks from 16 female contemporary artists. If you love puppetry or puppet theatre, come and learn how to make your own hand puppet! Following the success of their performances, Arriba Las Hu! Cerita Sastra Dalam Film Kita, 20 – 21 January 2018, 6 PM, Bentara Budaya Bali

Sinema Bentara, Bentara Budaya’s film screening, returns this weekend presenting films that are lifted from literature works, including films from Indonesia, India, and Italy. They are: Salah Asuhan (Indonesia, 1972), Madre (Indonesia, 2013), Balyakalasakhi (India, 2014), and Miracle in Milan (Italia, 1951).
