Supported by Jakarta Arts Council, Body Out is a Performance Art Festival taking place between 6 – 8 July. The festival features an art sharing, a workshop, and an exhibition.
Performance Art Sharing, 6 July 2017, 12 – 5 PM, Galeri Cipta II Taman Ismail Marzuki
The Body Out festival starts with a Performance Art Sharing that is curated by Francisca Retno and Ryahdus Salihin. The sharing features works of Dirdho Adityo, Studio Plesungan, PADJAK, 69 Performance Club and KURR Club. The Performance Art Sharing will take place in Galeri Cipta II Taman Ismail Marzuki.
Workshop, 7 July 2017, 1 – 4 PM, Kineforum
The Body Out Workshop is a workshop on Performance Art that will be facilitated by Irwan Ahmett, featuring a panel by Iwan Wijono & Experimental art UMN. Performative Exhibition, 10 AM – 6 PM, Galeri Cipta III, Taman Ismail Marzuki
The last event of the Body Out festival is a Performative Exhibition that will take place on 8 July 2017 from 10 AM to 6 PM. This exhibition will feature works of Abi Rama, Angga Wedhaswara, Synthia Delaney Suwito, Dea Widya, and many others. The exhibition will take place at Galeri Cipta III Taman Ismail Marzuki.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez and “el boom” of Latin America, 8 July 2017, 4 PM, Serambi Salihara, Jakarta
Komunitas Salihara is rolling its LIFE Festival or the Literature and Ideas Festival 2017. This year’s LIFE Festival brings the theme Reading Latin America. This week’s edition of Salihara book club discusses the work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, possibly the most well-known author of the “el boom” generation. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is known for his work 100 Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera. Are you a Marquez fan? Medium, 9 July 2017, 8 PM, Teater Salihara, Jakarta
Medium is an exciting work by internationally-known Indonesian dancer/ choreographer, Rianto. Rianto has worked with various international choreographers and has performed on various international stages, including his performance for Choy Ka Fay’s Soft Machine. Based on his research on Tari Lengger, a gender-fluid dance from Banyumas, he created Medium. This work is a universal call for freedom; to avoid dogma, embrace contradiction, mystery and layered diversity as how it is in the Javanese Culture. Ticket is at IDR 75,000. Les Grandes Personnes, 6 July 2017, 7:30 PM, Kalangan Madya Mandala, Taman Budaya Art Center, Bali
The larger-than-life Puppet group Les Grandes Personnes is back to perform at Bali Arts Festival 2017. Les Grandes Personnes combine the art of puppetry and theater to create community works that can be enjoyed by everyone. This time, the group will collaborate with traditional Balinese Barong Ket that will be played by the Yaya Putra Sedana Cultural Group. This collaboration will take place at Kalangan Madya Mandala Art Center on 6 July 2017 at 7:30 PM.

Buana Art Exhibition, Now – 7 July 2017, Littletalks Ubud, Bali
The word Buana means the Universe. Asosiasi Kreatif Ubud defines Buana as not just containing the beautiful world and its magnificent structures we live in, but also including the nature, mankind, and the relationship between them. Teater Garasi Performer Studio 2017, Deadline: 4 July 2017
Teater Garasi will be back with the second cycle of Performer Studio in July – August. Performer Studio is Teater Garasi’s beginner’s level acting course that is created for all kinds of performers, including actors, comedians, dancers and performance artists. This program started in 2006 and has gone through its previous round in February 2017. Application is currently open and will close on 4 July 2017. This application is for the next round of Performer Studio that will start on 11 July 2017 and ends on 20 August 2017. Course Fee is IDR 2,000,000.
