SURIN

March 3 @ 2:00 pm - May 5 @ 6:00 pm

For its grand opening in Song Wat, TARS Unlimited presents SURIN, a group exhibition featuring the works of 5 artists: Mit Jai Inn, Parinot Kunakornwong, Pisitakun Kuantalaeng, Ampannee Satoh, and Thanawat Numcharoen.

PAST RACE – cultural clusters

TARS Unlimited emerges as a beacon of artistic expression, challenging boundaries and embracing the boundless possibilities of human imagination. From the very inception, we envisioned our space as a cultural bridge—a conduit through which ideas, emotions, and experiences flow freely, transcending barriers of language, geography, and perspective.

Upon deciding to become a cultural bridge, we envisioned our inaugural show to embody the concept of passage. Our location, steeped in history and tradition, serves as the perfect backdrop for exploring this concept, deeply ingrained in the fabric of our surroundings — an invitation to wander, to wonder, and to witness things passing through, being filtered, approved, or declined.

CURRENT WORLD – illusion is sacred

SURIN takes its name from Khun Surin, a beloved local guardian entrusted with the stewardship of the nearby Luang Kocha mosque. In her role as an outsider to the art world, Khun Surin was invited to share a refreshing and unfiltered perspective on the artworks selected for this exhibition. Her insights, untainted by preconceived notions or academic conventions, shed light on the profound and universal themes that resonate across cultures and generations.

FUTURE PERSPECTIVE – open source

SURIN serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of art. Here, ideas converge, perspectives collide, and boundaries dissolve, giving rise to new narratives and forging connections that transcend the confines of tradition and convention.
