Pratchaya Phinthong: No Patents on Ideas

Singapore Art Museum presents Pratchaya Phinthong: No Patents on Ideas, the first solo exhibition of Bangkok-based artist Pratchaya Phinthong in Singapore. The exhibition delves into ideas of self-determination and objects as avatars of chance. Drawing inspiration from his time in Singapore, it offers a comprehensive look at significant explorations foundational to Phinthong’s two-decade multidisciplinary practice, reflecting his ways of conceptual thinking that translate research, scientific discoveries, economic theories, and even rumours into experiential forms and gestures. 

Phinthong’s works represent a crucial facet of Thai contemporary art, rooted in collaboration, exchange, and the transference of artistic agency—reshaping the value and meaning of art.
