In Conversation: Living with(out) roots
March 2 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join Nova Contemporary for a conversation between the artists Jedsada Tangtrakulwong and Vacharanont Sinvaravatn, alongside Kritsada Duchsadeewanich, curator of the Art Centre, Silpakorn University.
As a starting point for this talk, each speaker visited Benjakiti Forest Park, once home to a tobacco factory. Despite its central location, the landmark was unknown to them, allowing for individual journeys of sensorial novelty. Discussing their first encounters with a new setting, the three will bring a physical embodiment to the themes of home, kinship and foreignness seen in Tangtrakulwong and Sinvaravatn’s work. Drawing analogies between the tactile environment and the artists’ imagined visual realities, “Living with(out) roots” will probe the mercurial processes of artistic creation, spatial experience, and identity production, as well as the propensity for these dynamics to reverse and shift
*The talk will be conducted in Thai, no translation will be provided
