After a three-year break, The Silent Film Festival in Thailand returns in June to the Thai Film Archive, with a programme of classic silent films from around the world screened with live music accompaniment. This one-of-a-kind film festival has been a cultural landmark among cinema enthusiasts since its first edition in 2014. The headline title is Foolish Wives, Eric von Stroheim’s 1922 drama starring the director himself with Miss DuPont, an iconic American silent-era actress. The festival will screen the recently restored version of the film, with 50 minutes footage added to the previous and incomplete version. Don’t miss The Brilliant Biograph: Earliest Moving Images of Europe (1897-1902) is a collection of archive footage compiled by Eye Filmmuseum the Netherlands and British Film Institute.
