Artistic Directors Academy Masterclass #2 and Public Lecture: Queer Labour by Fadescha
August 9 - August 17
Work towards a manifesto for a future rooted in empathy and inclusivity. Artistic Directors Academy (ADA) Masterclass #2: Queer Labour by Fadescha awaits all artists and cultural changemakers, from 9 to 17 August. Join the free Public Lecture on Wednesday, 14 August! Sign up here for either, or both programmes.
Eligible for SkillsFuture credit, the 10-session Masterclass by Fadescha recognises and celebrates Queer Labour, the labour of surviving the everyday. Participants will confront neoliberal values of isolation and self-abandonment, and engage with artworks, diverse texts, and sessions of embodied practice, to focus on the voices and lived-experiences of the structurally marginalised communities.
The public lecture on Wednesday, 14 August, at 7.30 PM will delve into Fadescha’s ‘Qworkaholics Anonymous’—a project reimagining de-addiction programmes to honour the survival efforts of marginalised individuals.
Vidisha-Fadescha (they/them) is an artist, curator and cultural critic. Holding their lived experience of a radical gender, caste, race and disability, Fadescha suggests centering one’s own body and desire towards liberation. Their artistic work includes video, sound installations, text, and performance. They direct collective practices as a norm-critical pedagogy to queer hegemony. Fadescha’s works have garnered attention in leading arts and cultural publications.
Artistic Directors Academy (ADA), led by T:>Works Artistic Director Ong Keng Sen, is a research laboratory to develop Artistic Directors, harnessing international cultural innovators to helm Masterclass modules, as well as individual mentoring to sharpen and intensify skillsets.
