ESCAPISM
March 30 @ 12:00 pm - May 5 @ 6:00 pm
A solo exhibition by Pipatpong Seepeng
At NEU Contemporary
Pipatpong started this project with the idea of the struggle with life after his graduation. A new chapter of life began, and he tried to figure out and deal with the issues those he doesn’t want to participate, such as work he dislikes but has to get done, routine life, dealing with bureaucratic problem, money issues, aging and body changes. these physical issues come with mental issues such as fear of failing and self loathing. He has started to mentally escape from all the fears and anxieties, through his own imagination, through music, movies, and drawing. While he tries to solve his problem in real life, he also need this ‘escapism’ to maintain his sanity, and to maintain the sanity means to have hope and dreams for a better future.
“We all have something we want to runaway from – our trauma, pain, someone in our life, our past, ourselves. it’s hard to accept the fact that sometimes we’re too vulnerable to face our own fears, but denying it might make it even harder to fight.
This project is dedicated to those who afraid of life, who feel alone and confused. It’s okay to be vulnerable, to fail, to lose. Tomorrow, we’ll try to solve our problems and change our lives again.”
