SUMMARY:Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) 2025
DESCRIPTION:Singapore’s pinnacle annual performing arts festival\, Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA)\, returns from 16 May to 1 June 2025\, guided by the overarching theme More Than Ever. Organised by Arts House Limited (AHL) and commissioned by the National Arts Council (NAC)\, SIFA 2025 celebrates Singapore’s unique cultural identity and the evolution of its artistic landscape. Set against the backdrop of Singapore’s 60th year and building on the Festival’s 48 years of history\, this year’s edition will feature the largest showcase of homegrown talents\, with 15 new local commissions. \nThrough multilayered presentations by a range of distinct artistic voices\, SIFA 2025 pushes the boundaries of performance and festival presentation\, bridging diverse audiences with unique artistic experiences. The Festival places homegrown talents at the fore alongside compelling international works\, spanning art forms that include theatre\, dance\, music\, and visual arts. Featuring an unprecedented number of 15 local commissioned works that include reimaginings of classics such as Animal Farm and LEAR\, alongside presentations by singular artistic voices such as Drama Box and Nine Years Theatre. SIFA also gets more to experience the arts with the introduction of a new SIFA Pavilion at Bedok Town Square that will host a variety of arts experiences throughout the Festival and continues to present Little SIFA for the young and young-at-heart\, which sets up camp this time at Empress Lawn. Marking 48 years of the Festival\, the 2025 edition will also host a series of conversations with key cultural figures and leaders\, reflecting on Singapore’s evolving arts scene and its global significance. \nMore than ever\, SIFA 2025 champions the excellence of homegrown artists and deepens Singapore’s cultural dialogue with the world.

SUMMARY:Chinese Dance Fiesta 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre (SCDT) is proud to present the Chinese Dance Fiesta 2025\, a vibrant celebration of Chinese culture and heritage through the art of dance. \nFrom 20 Apr to 3 May 2025\, this milestone 10th edition will feature eight public performances by talented dancers from schools\, community groups and professional dance companies across Singapore. Audiences can look forward to a captivating blend of traditional and contemporary Chinese dance styles at the showcases\, taking place at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 20 Apr\, DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre at Esplanade on 25 & 26 Apr\, Kreta Ayer Square on 27 Apr\, VivoCity Amphitheatre\, Level 3 on 2 May and Our Tampines Hub Festive Stage on 3 May. \nChinese Dance Fiesta is also a vibrant platform for learning and cultural exchange. This year\, in collaboration with MUZI XIHUA\, SCDT is proud to present Ms. Li Qian\, a distinguished lecturer from the Dance Academy of Northwest Minzu University in China\, as the featured artist in the Master Series. SUMMARY:Robert Zhao Renhui: 5 Albizias
DESCRIPTION:Step into the shade of the Albizia tree (Albizia moluccana)\, a resilient migrant tree species that has quietly spread and flourished in rewilding green spaces across Singapore’s landscape\, forming isolated islands amid Singapore’s urban concrete jungle. 5 Albizias\, a travelling showcase by artist Robert Zhao Renhui\, explores the history of the Albizia tree in Singapore\, tracing its origins to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia\, where the fast-growing species often populates areas marked by human intervention and natural disturbances.  \nThrough striking visuals of five Albizias—four from across Singapore in Tampines\, Punggol\, Jurong\, and Woodlands\, corresponding to the showcase venues—and one from the Maluku Islands\, 5 Albizias invites visitors to examine the impact human actions have on these spaces and the dynamic interplay between native and non-native\, natural and artificial. By spotlighting the resilience of these often-overlooked trees\, the exhibition brings to the fore their essential role in rewilding disturbed land\, creating pockets of green where life can thrive anew. \nPresented by Singapore Art Museum\, 5 Albizias takes Zhao’s explorations of the Albizia tree into the heartlands.
