SUMMARY:comma 2025: PAST x PRESENT = FUTURE
DESCRIPTION:comma\, indicating an unfinished sentence\, reflects the fluidity of the arts and never-ending pursuit for excellence among Singapore’s young creatives. \n \nFrom 31 December 2024 to 26 January 2025\, comma is a Creative Arts festival that celebrates emerging artists while bringing the spotlight to Singapore’s budding creative scene at the Somerset Belt.  \nThe equation “PAST x PRESENT = FUTURE” invites contemplation on how the echoes of the past resonate in the present\, shaping the trajectory of what is yet to come.    \nThis theme invites artists to delve into this interconnectedness by unearthing forgotten narratives\, evolving perspectives and envisioning the influence of the past and present on our future. Drawing inspiration from tradition\, heritage and ritualism\, artists are encouraged to experiment with new techniques and unconventional themes and materials\, creating works that not only mirror our current reality but also provide glimpses into the trajectory of where we are headed.    \nAudiences will experience works that pay homage to our roots while offering fresh and contemporary interpretations\, weaving together the threads of past\, present\, and future.

SUMMARY:RawGround 2024
DESCRIPTION:The world has been sustained by one mechanism; that which moves our city\, our body\, our thoughts and existence – Breathing. RawGround 2024 is a ten-day event of curated film screenings\, artist talks and workshops connected by the theme: Breathing – the movement of space. The first three days feature activities that are held on site\, while the rest of RawGround will be made available for digital engagement for one week. With twelve short films by six local and international artists of diverse disciplines\, the event will discuss their works in a series of public talks and multi-disciplinary workshops\, cultivating a space for creative discourse for the wider audience. \nThe event takes form with each artist exploring the various spaces in our lives that are shaped by breath; how does the cityscape ‘suffocate’ us in this fast-paced society? How do we navigate such evolving landscapes and still hold on to our identity? What do our bodies remember and how do our senses guide and connect us? What beauty in life can we find in our last breath? These are some of the themes investigated in the twelve films.

SUMMARY:Inner Reflections
DESCRIPTION:INNER REFLECTIONS reflects the hidden potential of someone with diverse abilities. \nHow we see them (or how society makes them to be seen) does not truly represent their true capabilities! Each individual is capable of much more. And with adequate patience and guidance\, they are able to reach their potential! \nIn Inner Reflections\, Maya Dance Theatre team up with our community initiative\, Diverse Abilities Dance Collective (DADC). Though gifted with Down Syndrome\, the dancers from DADC possess individual abilities\, talents\, compassion\, affection and goals just like all of us. Some of the DADC dancers are pre-school dance trainers\, administrative assistants\, wardrobe mistresses and even mentors for other diversely abled dancers! \nThey build their own dreams through the foundations we created!
