SUMMARY:Suara Singa: A renaissance of the male voice ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Suara Singa is an annual lower equal-voices ensemble performance by the Vox Camerata Male Chorus. It provides a platform for conductors and enthusiastic tenor and bass singers that deep-dives into repertoire that is not often performed in Singapore and allows them to experiment with the vocal sonority of equal voices.\nThis inaugural concert is led by the esteemed Dr. Zechariah Goh Toh Chai. He has curated a survey of TTBB repertoire that ranges from the late medieval period to contemporary pieces. We will also be featuring three of his works ‘4 Iron-Black Steeds’\, ‘Strike the Drums’ and ‘Dawn of the New Millennium’. ‘Dawn of the New Millennium’ will be receiving its Singapore premiere in this concert. The ensemble is made up of established music teachers and performers gathered by their common interest in developing the performance capabilities of the local choral music scene.

SUMMARY:Curious & Curiouser
DESCRIPTION:Is it possible to hear with the eyes and see with the ears? The SYC Ensemble Singers will examine this question in a concert featuring works by Hoh Chung Shih\, Thomas Jennefelt\, Arvo Pärt\, Sven-David Sandström and R. Murray Schafer\, culminating in a new suite of choral movements by the choir’s artistic director and Cultural Medallion recipient Jennifer Tham. \nWe go beyond melody and harmony to make music textured by improvisatory repetitions and produce soundscapes of noise and silence – sating curiosity of how sight and sound complement and influence each other.
