SUMMARY:"To the Last Gram" Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:Too big. Too small. Wanting to feel special. Never feeling enough. \nLet’s talk about the gooey and messy parts of growing up at the book launch of To the Last Gram by debut creators Shreya Davies and Vanessa Wong ❤️‍🔥 \nGrowing up as a young Indian girl in 1990s Singapore\, To the Last Gram follows Divya’s coming-of-age journey as she finds herself off-kilter and increasingly at odds with food\, family\, and her own body. Told through Shreya Davies’ gentle yet incisive words and Vanessa Wong’s disarmingly surreal illustrations\, the comic will surely rip you at the seams and sew you back together again. To the Last Gram is not about recovering from an eating disorder\, but about living with one. \nModerated by the incredible Prasanthi Ram\, hear from Shreya and Vanessa about their creative process and then weave your thoughts about the book into a collaborative community tapestry. Grab a copy of the book and have it signed by the creators in person! \n✨ Preorder the comic from Book Bar by 28 April and collect it at the launch together with a FREE art print! \n📌 Limited seating is available on a first-come-first-served basis\, with standing room available. Slots will be prioritised for registered attendees (with a 10-minute grace period)\, but walk-ins are welcome if there is capacity! \nABOUT THE LAUNCH \nDate: Thursday\, 1 May\, 2025\nTime: 2PM – 4PM\nVenue: Book Bar\, 57 Duxton Road\, Singapore 089521 \n🕑 1.45PM – 2.00PM Registration\n🕑 2.00PM – 2.45PM Conversation with Creators (Moderated by Prasanthi Ram)\n🕒 2.45PM – 3.00PM Audience Q&A\n🕔 3.00PM – 4.00PM Book Signing / Community Tapestry Activity

SUMMARY:All the Things She Said: Women’s Voices in Comics
DESCRIPTION:This International Women’s Day\, join us for a conversation about the power of women’s voices in comics with creators from Difference Engine\, an independent comics publisher based in Singapore. \nTackling big topics through small but powerful publications within the DE Shorts imprint\, Andeasyand (Creator of A Drip. A Drop. A Deluge: A Period Tragicomedy)\, Vinita Ramani\, and Griselda Gabriele (Creators of Bearing Witness) discuss how exploring their shared experience of womanhood has empowered difficult conversations to be had through comics\, whether it’s through quirky humour or raw honesty. \nCome down to Book Bar on 8 March\, 7:30 pm as we share stories about friendship\, community\, and all the messy and magnificent parts of being a woman. \nDE Shorts titles including A Drip. A Drop. A Deluge: A Period Tragicomedy and Bearing Witness will also be available for purchase and signing by the creators. Light bites and drinks will be available for purchase as well. \nAbout the Panellists\nVinita Ramani is a writer and editor. Find her online at vinitaramani.com/ \nGriselda Gabriele is a Singapore-based Indonesian artist with experience in editorial illustration and visual development for games and animation. She is passionate about storytelling\, and interested in exploring the diverse history\, (pop) culture\, and faiths of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
