SUMMARY:Global Landscapes Singapore-An Immersive Art Exhibition by Internationally Acclaimed Artist
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 3 November 2022\, the Grammy-nominated British composer\, artist and co-founder of production company Sisters Grimm\, Ella Spira MBE\, will launch her latest art project\, ‘Global Landscapes Singapore’ at Art Now gallery\, in the Raffles Hotel Arcade\, unveiling her work as a visual artist. \nThe launch will open with an ‘In conversation with Ella Spira MBE” hosted by Alice Black\, former director of The Design Museum London and founder of ArtULTRA. The invitation only event will shed light on the process\, influences\, inspiration\, and intention of Spira as a painter\, giving context to the artworks created in Singapore. \nGlobal Landscape Singapore celebrates the richness of life in and around the island through six individual paintings and a series of charcoals. In Singapore\, Spira has been able to show a city that values natural resources and has kept nature as part of its urban landscape. From pockets of green punctuating the financial area of the city to the thriving marine trade\, which has been part of its backdrop for centuries. Spira first came to Singapore for work in 2015\, but she is painting the city for the first time this year. \nThe paintings are accompanied by photographs taken by Singaporean photographer Rebecca Toh and an evocative score composed by Spira. This score features Singaporean cellist Olivia Chuang and  incorporates the sound of Rebecca’s camera click as well as the sound of Singapore thunder storms. It will be released on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/SistersGrimm) on w/c 17 October with a video featuring Toh’s photography. \nGlobal Landscapes Singapore will be opened to the public with free entry on the 4th November at 12-7pm and 5th of November at 12 – 5pm. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Playback Theatre Training Season
DESCRIPTION:Playback theatre is a form of applied theatre that focuses on community engagement. Some believe in its therapeutic qualities\, while others are excited by the possibility of social change. \nThe experience of seeing one’s own story played back can be surprising insightful or cathartic. The experience of watching someone else’s story being played back can stir up feelings of resonance\, dissonance or remembrance.  \nPlayback theatre is an interactive and improvised performance. Audience members share emotions from their daily lives\, or even from sweet\, hidden memories. These stories – be they short or long\, light-hearted or painful – are almost immediately presented through music\, movement and metaphor.  \n3 Cups of Kopi Playback Theatre Ensemble is organising a training season. This training will cover several useful skills\, forms\, rituals\, ethics and practice pertaining to Playback Theatre. The training will be relevant for seasoned playbacks as well as newcomers.  \nOver 14 bite-sized workshop sessions\, the training will focus on different facets of Playback Theatre. Participants can choose to learn or explore at their own pace as there is no expectation to put up a public performance at the end of this season. \nThe goal is to create a space where everyone can learn and practice together. Come find out more about Playback Theatre\, or work on deepening your current practice. Try a single session\, or 3\, or all 14!
