SUMMARY:My Identity - Beyond Aristry
DESCRIPTION:My Identity – Beyond Artistry is a five-act series that features the stories of five individuals who have built their identities through the creative arts while giving back to the community through their practice. The series aims to inspire youths\, including those at risk\, to discover their own identities through arts and music. The project uses dance and music to relate the stories and showcase storytelling mechanisms as fundamental components of the production. Through the profiles’ narratives\, the audience is invited to empathize and take perspectives\, enabling a deeper understanding of creative expression and artistic identities.\n\nThe series is thematized around Michael Dambrun’s five human qualities of selflessness\, which are reflected in the profiles’ stories\, original music compositions\, and dance choreographies. The music blends ragas and modern contemporary melodies\, while the dance provides a visual context for the audience to relate to the stories more profoundly.\n\nMy Identity – Beyond Artistry aims to bridge storytelling mechanisms with art-making\, specifically with musical and dance forms across genres and disciplines. The production seeks to inspire youths to explore their identities through arts and music while highlighting the importance of giving back to the community through creative practice.\n\nThis concert is supported by the National Arts Council (Singapore) and Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee (TLLPC).
