SUMMARY:Singer-Songwriters: Some Strings Attached Vol.2
DESCRIPTION:After a successful sold-out show in the midst of covid restrictions last year\, SINGER-SONGWRITERS: SOME STRINGS ATTACHED VOL. 2 comes back with a vengeance\, featuring another group of Singapore’s most prolific singer-songwriters in a one-night-only concert. \nThe upcoming more intimate installment of the rare pairing of local singer-songwriters’ vocals and (many) strings\, weish\, Shirlyn Tan\, Marian Carmel\, Umar Sirhan\, Shak’thiya and Richie El take the stage alongside a string quartet and a rhythm band led by veteran Music Director Bang Wenfu as they reimagine their songs in an intimate setting. \nThe show features fresh interpretations of songs\, which will be performed live for the first time\, taking the audience on a raw and immersive journey through the songwriters’ experiences of love and want\, ruminations and imagination. It will be held on Saturday\, 8 July 2023\, at the Aliwal Arts Centre.

DESCRIPTION:Organised by Arts House Limited and held at Aliwal Arts Centre in conjunction with Glamboyant\, OFF THE BLOCKS!!! looks into the narratives and practice of artists and creatives as they look into their identities intertwined with the notion of the street. It explores their connection to their urban space and how it has shaped their existence\, personalities\, ideals and aspirations. The term ‘street’ in this instance not only represents a physical space\, but also a mental\, emotional and creative space. It showcases the roots of their agency\, their intrinsic need to uphold\, advocate and stay true to their voices no matter how muffled and obstructed it may be. How did we start? DESCRIPTION:Drifted explores grief\, memory\, and celebration\, unfurling the different dynamics of loss for all bodies young and old. Taking reference from the book ‘Lost in the Clouds’ by Tom-Tinn Disbury as a starting point\, Drifted is devised together with dancers from Decadance Co\, our decak!ds young dancers\, and seniors from our decasilver elderly community engagement program. This production is perfect for all ages\, and will resonate with audiences new or familiar to contemporary dance. Journey through the landscape of life after loss with us\, as we explore how emotional bonds are ageless\, timeless\, and unbound by physical presence.
