SUMMARY:The Lost and The Remained exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Southeast Asian artist collective An.other Asian (AOA) will launch The Lost and The Remained in October\, exploring the rich diversity of Southeast Asian cultures to bring a new perspective to Koppel Project Hive in London.  \n  \nFollowing the success of their first exhibition in April\, The Lost and The Remained works with 13 artists from Southeast Asian backgrounds to encourage a greater understanding of the region by interrogating the link between culture and physical objects. \n  \nThe Lost and The Remained will take place 27th – 30th October at The Koppel Project Hive on 26 Holborn Viaduct\, London. The Koppel Project (est. 2016) is an arts charity\, gallery\, and creative hub based in central London with aim to support early and mid-career artists.  \n  \nApproaching non-aligned histories and geographies\, The Lost and The Remained questions how heritage is constructed and developed through exchanges and collaborations. \n  \nWork from Southeast Asian nations the artists looks at themes like the notion of heritage calls to mind multiple facets of one’s history: it can refer to a physical object or space\, or an inherited culture\, behaviour\, or way of living. The role creative practice plays in discovering one’s roots through entangled memories\, friendships\, families\, and diasporic identities. \n  \nThe exhibition will showcase works ranging from illustrations\, films\, installations\, and performances as well as culminate with several events such as artist talks and workshops. \n  \nThe private opening night will be held on the 27th of October from 6 pm – 9 pm. Complimentary tickets can be found here \n  \nDuong Thuy Nguyen\, co-founder of An.Other Asian\, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be launching our 2nd exhibition with such a strong roster of London’s Southeast Asian artist talent. It is an honour to have such established names as KV Duong\, Carina Santos\, Aliansyah Caniago and Monica Hapsari taking centre stage at our exhibition.  \n  \n“Studying at Centre Saint Martin’s offered me the chance to meet like-minded Southeast Asian art students. I came together with Rianti to create An.Other Asian with the hope of building a strong community. While our project may have just started out\, it’s inspiring to see such a strong collection of artists already joining us.” \n  \nHaxhijakupi\, Communications Manager of the Koppel Project\, said: “ We are excited to host this exhibition and to collaborate with An.Other Asian collective and the selected artists. The Hive is a hotspot for emerging talent and The Koppel Project’s longest running site housing some of our most exciting community members.” \nAn.Other Asian is an artist-led collective founded by artists from various Southeast Asian countries living\, studying\, and working in London. \nSeeing the lack of safe spaces for Southeast Asian artists to foster and present ideas within London\, as it is in this context that AOA is born and in which its impact will come to be understood. Knowledge exchange\, connection and highlighting Southeast Asia art and culture are key to exploring how and where our collective might consolidate some of these opportunistic\, transients of creativity to shape the future of our cultural sector in a more profound way. \nThe Lost and The Remained is funded by Mekong Cultural Hub as a part of their Meeting Point 2022\, and supported by The Koppel Project.
