SUMMARY:New Scripts Garage Nov 2023: Malay-language Edition
DESCRIPTION:The New Scripts Garage is a regular offer of dramaturgical support for new scripts\, convened every other month\, with low barriers to entry. On a regular basis\, we open our inboxes for script submissions from playwrights seeking dramaturgical support for their work. \nFor the November 2023 cycle\, we are collaborating with Teater Ekamatra to offer a Malay-language edition\, that will accept up to eight scripts through an Open Call. \n\n\nThis programme prioritises writer development over polish and aims to get the writer excited to work on the next draft of their script\, with a clearer sense of where to go. \nScript Eligibility: \n\nWe are accepting plays in the Malay-language or predominantly (at least 80%) in the Malay-language for this special edition. Translations are welcome where available.\nWe are not accepting straight adaptations of other work (e.g. novels\, films)\, but will accept adaptations with a clear creative\, re-inventive\, and/or radical approach.\nWe prioritise completed drafts of full length plays and shorter plays. We may consider partially complete drafts of scripts with extensive scenes.

SUMMARY:MAKE HANTUS GREAT AGAIN
DESCRIPTION:Make Hantus Great Again is a satirical\, supernatural\, and political comedy. It follows the General Elections of the Convention of Metaphysical Entities (COME)\, the national administrative body (and support group) for Singapore’s population of hantus (ghosts)\, pontianaks\, vampires\, jiang shis\, and other supernatural beings. Each race sends forth a candidate\, each with their own crazed agenda. Will the vampires bring an orgy of anarchy? Will the jinn impose their own brand of magical dictatorship? Or will the ghosts… make hantus great again? That’s for the audience to decide as their vote will determine the result of the most important elections of their lives… and afterlives. \nMake Hantus Great Again marks the theatrical debut of best-selling author\, Suffian Hakim (of Harris Bin Potter and the Stoned Philosopher fame). Directed by Rizman Putra\, Make Hantus Great Again stars Hafidz Rahman\, Munah Bagharib\, Azizul ‘Izzy’ Mahathir\, Farah Lola\, Jamil Schulze\, Neo Hai Bin\, and Norisham Osman.
