DESCRIPTION:Sra’Art Gallery is showcasing the work of one of Cambodian artist Theanly Chov\, who draws inspiration from Soviet propaganda imagery\, 19th-century Russian painting\, and Khmer artist Neak Dhim.\n\nTheanly’s paintings explore themes of individualism and societal progress in post-war Cambodia\, with his subjects often depicted in a characteristic pose. His paintings capture the struggle and difficulty of realizing oneself in a society driven by opportunity and upward mobility. Despite these themes\, his artwork is imbued with optimism and harmony.\nThe paintings feature individuals who have left an indelible mark on the Cambodian art scene.\nExhibition opens 3 August 2023 and will run for six weeks.
