SUMMARY:Lunchtime Concerts at ACM – Zoomorphic Muses: An Afternoon at the Museum
DESCRIPTION:What would happen if we reimagined some of the fantastic mythical creatures seen on ancient animal-shaped objects and created music that sounds like Debussy’s dreamy “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” on an afternoon at ACM? \nInspired by zoomorphic objects from the ACM collection\, musicians from YST’s Text and Music class will unfold a new narrative of ancient animal-shaped objects through music. Through the students’ rich musical imagination and creativity\, some of these fantastic creatures will be reimagined and brought to life! This project is curated by lecturers Dr Chen Zhangyi and Dr Sara Florian. \nIn partnership with the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST)\, Lunchtime Concerts return to ACM. Pamper yourself with an afternoon of classical music echoing through our halls on Fridays in October and November! This season features an original composition\, “Zoomorphic Muses – An Afternoon at the Museum”\, inspired by ACM’s collection!

SUMMARY:Fashioning Batik by NAFA X BINhouse@ACM
DESCRIPTION:This showcase features batik menswear created by students and graduates of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in collaboration with BINhouse. Interpreting tradition\, history\, culture\, and contemporary fashion aesthetics\, the designs are modern\, innovative\, and wearable. \nBINhouse\, a batik powerhouse in Indonesia\, generously provided all the batik fabrics for this collection. Each one speaks to the unique and\ndistinctive BINhouse signature approach to handmade batik. \nWith their individual fortes and styles\, the NAFA designers established their own approaches to working with the BINhouse batiks. Among the\ndesigners are an embroidery artist\, a print designer\, a leather smith\, an alternative constructionist\, as well as current students honing their skills in fashion designing. \nProgrammes: Join us on 2–4 September for Crossing Cultures at ACM\, and on 25 September for ACM Adventures: Runway Ready.
