DESCRIPTION:Musical Theatre Fringe Festival (MTFF) produced by Sing’theatre\, is Singapore’s first and only arts festival dedicated to celebrating Musical Theatre that will run from 22nd July to 7th August 2022. With 16 shows\, 7 workshops and 10 talks & events\, this ambitious new festival has something for everyone. The festival shines a spotlight on local musicals\, and fantastic local & international performers and brings together audiences to WATCH\, LEARN and ENGAGE in Musical Theatre like never before. \n  \nAre you a musical theatre fan? An aspiring performer? Or someone who has no clue about musicals? With MTFF’s extensive array of programs\, no one will be left out and in fact\, we guarantee that you will be spoilt for choice! Witness the incubation of original and local works with Tissue Aunty The Musical by CariCapture Theatre\, Jack The Musical Read by Dwayne Tan\, The Hidden Singapore Musical by Karen Lim and many more. Level up your performing skills through international workshops held by Natalie Weiss (USA) and Luka Anthony (UK) along with specialised Song and Dance workshops by the local 7/8 Musical Collective. Have a relaxing evening with family and friends at The Projector watching musical theatre movies and surround yourselves with the Musical Theatre Community at our Open Mic sessions. \n  \nTo top it all off\, our headline shows will be two showstopping Broadway fringe shows: [title of show] and In Pieces\, starring award winning performers including Mina Kaye\, Benjamin Chow\, Seong Hui Xuan\, and the next generation of Singapore talents!  \n  \nFestival Artistic Director TJ Taylor shares his vision of festival: “Singapore has a thriving Musical Theatre scene but genre has never been solely celebrated with a festival of its own. DESCRIPTION:This July to August\, enhance your skills with masterclasses on theatre and clowning\, led by ITI faculty member\, actor and director Guillermo Angelelli! \nMasterclass on the Creative Process from Training to Composition\nFor professional artists and those training in theatre\, circus\, dance\, singing and performers in general. \nStructure \nThe Scribble\nPhysical training on three movement circuits\, application of basic principles of theatrical anthropology for the discovery and development of the implicit actions in the doodling\, as well as composition of sequences. \nThe Five Resonators\nBasic tips for the development of vocal training based on five body resonators and the action of saying. \nThe Marriage Between Word and Action\nOrganisation of a structure through listening and adaptation of various systems of meaning (including a score of actions and text). \nCreation and Exhibition\nHow to be present. \nRequirements:\n \n\nMinimum age of 17\nAttendance for all sessions\nComfortable clothing\nA memorised text of the participant’s choice with a length of 10–15 lines (preferably not song lyrics)\n\nDetails:\nDates: 23 Jul – 13 Aug (4 Saturdays)\nTime: 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM\nTotal duration: 16 hours\nFee: $480 \n—— \nClowning Masterclass\nThis intensive two-day workshop will train performers on awareness\, presence and complicity. \nBeyond a character\, the clown can be defined as a kind of spirit; a quality of energy that arises from the joy of celebrating the uniqueness of each moment with others. \nThis masterclass offers a repertoire of games and exercises played in complicity with the audience\, to test and train your ability to communicate using the most sensitive\, true\, passionate\, stripped\, ridiculous and funny parts of your personality. \n“In clowning\, what transcends is not what is said; there is something behind that\, which is the goal of training: to find that transparent body to connect with a type of presence which is already eloquent in itself.” – Guillermo Angelelli \nRequirements: \n\nMinimum age of 17\nAttendance for all sessions\n\nDetails:\nDates: 20\, 27 Aug (Saturdays)\nTime: 9 AM – 6 PM (includes a lunch break)\nTotal duration: 16 hours\nFee: $480 \n—— \n$80 OFF WHEN YOU SIGN UP FOR BOTH WORKSHOPS \n—— \nAbout the Instructor \nGuillermo Angelelli is a faculty member of Intercultural Theatre Institute. An actor\, director and teacher from Argentina\, he studied drama at the National School of Dramatic Arts in Buenos Aires and continued his training with teachers such as Carlos Gandolfo and Cristina Moreira. In 1984\, he co-founded the clown group El Clú del Claun\, one of the most celebrated groups in Buenos Aires known for their avant-garde works. In 1986\, he began to develop training and research work with Iben Nagel Rassmusen of Denmark’s Odin Teatret\, and is now a member of the Vindenes Bro Group (The Bridge of Winds) managed by Rassmusen. For over 35 years\, he has been teaching clowning\, physical and vocal training in Argentina and other parts of Latin America\, as well as Europe. He has also served as the director of the theatre group El Primogénito since 1993. \nGuillermo has won many awards for his work in theatre including the Harlequin Award for Best Actor and Director for Asterion (1992)\, GATEA Award and Maria Guerrero Award for Best Actor for The Threepenny Opera (2004) and Hamlet (2004)\, and Maria Guerrero Award for Best Actor for Woyzeck (2006).
