SUMMARY:Into The Woods
DESCRIPTION:Once upon a time\, in a marvellous multiverse of musical fairy-tale heroes and villains… \nThe Witch\, the Wolf\, the Giant and the Stepmother have unleashed pandemonium on the kingdom. Little Red Riding Hood\, Cinderella\, Jack (of Beanstalk fame) and the Baker assemble to avenge the evils dealt to the people. On their mission to save their world\, they venture into the woods. \nBut their path is booby-trapped with blips\, as they get entrapped by Daydreams\, ensnared by Desires\, and enslaved by Wishes. And then things get reeeally fee-fi-fo-fummed-up… \nThe late\, legendary Stephen Sondheim’s spellbinding music and words combine with James Lapine’s wild and witty script in this ingenious\, subversive mashup of our most beloved fairy stories. Full of heart\, humour and honesty\, this magical musical has much to teach us all about growing up\, growing old\, love and marriage\, parents and children\, action and consequence\, good and evil\, life and death. \nWhether you’re 10 or 110\, we promise you a journey into the woods you will not soon forget. \nNominated for 10 Tony Awards\, Winner for Best Book and Best Original Score. \nInto the Woods runs from 27 October to 12 November 2023\, at Singtel Waterfront Theatre\, Esplanade. \nThe IMDA rating for the show is General\, and recommended for 8 years old and above. \nTickets are available on www.pangdemonium.com and www.sistic.com.sg

SUMMARY:Happy Indian Women
DESCRIPTION:Being a woman is tough. Being an Indian woman is even tougher. We must be independent\, but not too independent that we tarnish the family name. We must be strong enough to withstand the constant scrutiny that our bodies\, minds and personalities are subject to. We’re too dark\, too short\, too thin\, too educated\, too loud\, too much. Our friends still ask us if we speak ‘Indian’. Or worse\, they assume we are Indian just because we are a certain shade of brown.   \n  \nWritten by The Necessary Stage’s Associate Artist Sindhura Kalidas\, Happy Indian Women is a verbatim theatre production that questions the assumptions we make about the diverse South Asian diaspora in Singapore. Based on interviews with 20 women and non-binary people from various backgrounds\, the play interweaves text\, sound and multimedia to celebrate their honest and tender stories about faith\, friendship and family.

SUMMARY:Pop Group: An Improvised Musical
DESCRIPTION:You know pop music. You’ve watched musicals. You might have even caught a couple of pop musicals. But what about an unscripted pop musical? \nIn the 90s and early 2000s\, boy bands and girl groups reigned supreme. Everyone knew their music\, everyone had a favourite member\, and everyone had an opinion on which pop group was the best. These bands were world famous. But behind the saccharine pop ditties and carefully manicured looks were young artistes struggling with the demands of superstardom. And for every band that made it\, there were a hundred more which fell by the wayside. \nJoin Les Musicables as we explore the ins and outs of pop superstardom in an hour-long improvised musical that will tickle your funny bone and warm your heart\, with music and lyrics completely made up on the spot\, inspired by suggestions from the audience.
