SUMMARY:YSDAF 2025: Pitch Start
DESCRIPTION:The Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival (YSDAF) celebrates a decade of arts and community. Since 2014\, Pitch Start has been an integral component of YSDAF and is an avenue for artistes or arts groups to pitch their ideas based on a given theme.\n\nFor YSDAF 2025\, themed “Community: Side by Side”\, Pitch Start is calling for creative and meaningful ideas to engage Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) through the arts and encourage collaboration between people of all abilities.\n\nSuccessful applicants stand a chance to win a grant of up to RM30\,000. SUMMARY:Jeremy Monteiro at 65 – The State of My Art
DESCRIPTION:Join Jeremy Monteiro as he showcases the breadth of his musical vista. From his virtuosic trio\, quartet and quintet to the swinging big band sounds with the Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra\, featuring eminent guests\, this promises to be an intriguing and entertaining evening. \nJeremy’s latest recordings have reached the Top 50 of the USA National Jazzweek Charts four times in the last four years\, including his vocal album Sings\, which he will also feature in this concert. Alongside Jeremy and his ensemble\, the JASSO big band will host special guests\, including renowned bassist Jay Anderson\, trumpeter Nicolas Folmer—co-founder of the Paris Big Band\, exciting Taiwanese flutist Jenny Tsai\, Baritone saxophonist Roxy Modesto holding down the low notes in the big band\, as well as his mentor and godfather of Singapore jazz and Cultural Medallion recipient\, vocalist and drummer Louis Soliano. Cultural Medallion recipient Violinist Lynnette Seah and the young and exciting Singaporean saxophonist Sean Hong Wei who is making waves in New York as well as many of Jeremy’s regular collaborators from Singapore and the region will also join the performance. \nThe show will be a musical odyssey exploring the phases of Jeremy’s 48-year career since he began learning the piano. It will offer rare personal glimpses into the life and times of this distinguished Singapore Cultural Medallion recipient.
