DESCRIPTION:From 24 March 2023 \nDaily\, 10am – 7pm | Fridays\, 10am – 9pm \nAsian Civilisations Museum\, Level 3\, Fashion and Textiles Gallery \n  \nThe Asian Civilisations Museum presents Textile Masters to the World: The global desire for Indian cloth with a selection of exquisite garments and textiles at its Fashion and Textiles Gallery. Featuring 27 pieces from the National Collection and loans\, the exhibition spotlights the historic global impact of textile production in India\, and its role as evidence of trade and cultural exchange between India and regions such as the Middle East\, Southeast Asia\, and Europe from the fourteenth to nineteenth century. From fashion and furnishing\, to gift exchange and heirlooms\, visitors can marvel at the artistry and craftsmanship of early textile masters\, and discover how Indian textiles influenced local designs\, materials and fashions wherever they were traded.

DESCRIPTION:‘For You Page’\, a Singapore Literature (Sing Lit) campaign led by final year students from NTU Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI)\, is launching “Get Booked’’ – a series of book pop-up events at three well-known cafes from 29 January 2024 to 29 March 2024. During limited periods at Brawn and Brains Coffee\, Creme by LÉLE Bakery and The Social Space\, patrons can enjoy browsing through free books. \nMade for patrons seeking a coffee fix\, hangout spot and workspace respectively\, “Get Booked” consists of three pop-up events with varying opening hours. \n\n\nGet Booked with Brews at Brawn and Brains Coffee (Hamilton Road) from 29 January 2024 to 9 February 2024 – featuring an inviting space for coffee lovers to relax and catch up over books; \n\n\nGet Booked to Chill at Creme by LÉLE Bakery from 13 February 2024 to 27 February 2024 – presenting a cozy hangout and reading spot with their specialty Nian Gao Rice Cake Waffles and ice-cream for Chinese New Year\, open past midnight; and \n\n\nGet Booked and Hustle at The Social Space (Kreta Ayer) from 15 March 2024 to 29 March 2024 – offering a conducive space for work and breaks with Wi-Fi connection\, food\, drinks\, books and retail space for productivity-seekers. \n\n\nAt each event\, visitors can expect a curated selection of English books including fiction\, non-fiction\, novels\, poetry\, plays and more. The booth features interactive zines with activities patrons can participate in to enter giveaways and win attractive vouchers from establishments such as Bob The Baker Boy and Book Bar. Low is an award-winning author-illustrator of picture books. His book Lemonade Sky (2021) is featured in the prestigious White Raven catalogue 2021 and also won him the Hedwig Anuar Children’s Book Award 2022. His recent publications include two graphic novels: Mr Goodchild (2021)and The Visitor (2022). Through these two books\, J.H. Low explores existential issues with the picture book form and challenges conventional notion that the picture book is only for children’s consumption. \nJ.H. Low has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art\, a MA in Children’s Book Illustration\, and a PhD in Art. \n\n\n\n\nCancellation:\nThe programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the programme date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us. \nParticipants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date.
