DESCRIPTION:From 24 March 2023 \nDaily\, 10am – 7pm | Fridays\, 10am – 9pm \nAsian Civilisations Museum\, Level 3\, Fashion and Textiles Gallery \n  \nThe Asian Civilisations Museum presents Textile Masters to the World: The global desire for Indian cloth with a selection of exquisite garments and textiles at its Fashion and Textiles Gallery. Featuring 27 pieces from the National Collection and loans\, the exhibition spotlights the historic global impact of textile production in India\, and its role as evidence of trade and cultural exchange between India and regions such as the Middle East\, Southeast Asia\, and Europe from the fourteenth to nineteenth century. From fashion and furnishing\, to gift exchange and heirlooms\, visitors can marvel at the artistry and craftsmanship of early textile masters\, and discover how Indian textiles influenced local designs\, materials and fashions wherever they were traded.

In this year’s iteration of LASTPLAY\, we’re bringing the gig from our public libraries\, right to you live in the centre of the Bras Basah Bugis area. Join us for an evening of soulful grooves and enigmatic rap\, and witness Singapore’s stalwarts in R&B\, shoegaze and alternative hip-hop. With ethereal vocals and dreamy distortions coupled with shapeshifting beats\, we bring to you the best in sonic iterations to wrap up PRESSPLAY. Coupled with a popup market and art installations\, this 2 day finale is not to be missed! \nAbout PRESSPLAY 2024 \nPRESSPLAY is National Library Board’s biennial arts festival\, promising a month-long tapestry of workshops\, talks and exhibition. In this edition of PRESSPLAY\, we celebrate the little improvements we make through iterations in art\, stroke by stroke\, note by note\, click by click. \nPRESSPLAY aims to make youth arts more accessible to the public and celebrate the impact of the arts on young people’s lives. In collaboration with community organisations and independent artists\, PRESSPLAY offers arts programmes for young people in public libraries throughout Singapore. \nSo what are you waiting for?\nIt’s time to PRESSPLAY.
