DESCRIPTION:From 24 March 2023 \nDaily\, 10am – 7pm | Fridays\, 10am – 9pm \nAsian Civilisations Museum\, Level 3\, Fashion and Textiles Gallery \n  \nThe Asian Civilisations Museum presents Textile Masters to the World: The global desire for Indian cloth with a selection of exquisite garments and textiles at its Fashion and Textiles Gallery. Featuring 27 pieces from the National Collection and loans\, the exhibition spotlights the historic global impact of textile production in India\, and its role as evidence of trade and cultural exchange between India and regions such as the Middle East\, Southeast Asia\, and Europe from the fourteenth to nineteenth century. From fashion and furnishing\, to gift exchange and heirlooms\, visitors can marvel at the artistry and craftsmanship of early textile masters\, and discover how Indian textiles influenced local designs\, materials and fashions wherever they were traded.

Exact format and prize structure is in the sign up link.\nEvent details are as followed:\n5th August 2023\, 8-10.30 pm\nBlackbox\, Stamford Arts Centre\nThis event would not be possible without the support of Singlit Station\n\n\nAbout the Organisers: \nSPOKE & BIRD \nSpoke & Bird is a poetry open mic in Singapore which provides a welcoming space for new and seasoned poets. It also provides a platform for established local and international writers\, performers\, storytellers and musicians to showcase their work. Founded in 2017\, Spoke & Bird can also be found as a live streamed poetry night. \nOUTSPOKEN \nOutspoken is a new bi-monthly competitive Spoken Word Poetry event in Singapore consisting of 3 rounds including 1 improv round. \nSING LIT STATION \nSing Lit Station is a registered charity and Institution of Public Character (IPC). SUMMARY:Silent Moon - an evening of music and poetry
DESCRIPTION:While modern music has rightly been considered in many ways as breaking away from the musical past\, it certainly has not fully escaped the influence of what has come before. Juxtaposing three modern works for violin-viola duo by composers Quincy Porter\, Augusta Read Thomas and Darius Milhaud against Mozart’s Duo in G major\, K.423. Silent Moon explores the subtle stylistic relationships between composers who worked (or are working) more than a century apart. The evening will also feature poetry readings that are curated by local writers Audrey Tan and Julius Li\, which trace analogous stylistic relationships in the literary arts. Through interplay of the selected poems’ rhythm\, form and content alongside the pieces of the concert programme\, the performance invites the audience to consider to what extent music may be considered in parallel to speech\, recapturing an 18th-century European aesthetic that was widely understood in Mozart’s day and bringing it into contact with the present.  \nProgramme \nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart\, Duo in G Major for violin and viola\, K. 423 (1783) \n I. Allegro molto \nMusic performed by: \nTan Tiag Yi (Violin) \nCindy Ow (Viola) \nPoetry curated by: \nAudrey Tan \nJulius Li \nTicketing: \nConcession tickets costing $21 each are available for full-time students\, full-time national servicemen (NSF)\, senior citizens (60 years and above) and practicing artists. All other patrons should purchase general admission tickets for $26. \nAdmission Rules: \nNo children below the age of 6 will be admitted. Concession ticket holders should bring proof of their status\, such as a driver’s license or student pass\, as random checks may be conducted at the venue. Refunds will not be granted to ticket-holders who do not meet these admission requirements. \nLatecomers will only be admitted at suitable breaks. Patrons may choose to sit anywhere during the concert\, except on seats which are reserved for VIPs and guests. We reserve the right to ask parents to bring children out of the hall should they be disruptive during the performance. There is no admission without a ticket. \nPhotography/Video Recording Rules: \nPhotography and videography by audience members is not allowed during the performance. However\, audience members may take photos during curtain calls. We reserve the right to ask audience members to leave the hall should they not comply with these rules.
