SUMMARY:George Town Festival: pulu’em and Luna
DESCRIPTION:In an enduring music and dance performance\, pulu’em and Luna celebrate Taiwan’s indigenous artistry and vitality with masterful and evocative narratives inviting audiences on a journey of self and collective reflection. The performance starts with pulu’em by Sangpuy\, a musician from Taiwan’s Pinayumayan tribe\, who pays tribute to the cultural\, natural\, and spiritual heritage of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples with songs from his latest album ‘pulu’em’\, along with his biggest hits and other soulful native tunes. The show continues with Luna\, performed by the highly acclaimed Bulareyaung Dance Company (BDC). Their 2018 milestone production integrates contemporary dance with inspiration from the rituals and singing of the Bunun people\, also listed as a cultural heritage in Taiwan. Together\, pulu’em and Luna offer an otherworldly experience that transports audiences on an immersive journey of self-reflection in the beauty and calm of time\, nature\, and life. \nShow dates: 22 & 23 July 2023 \n  \nGeorge Town Festival 2023 is a project by George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI)\, organised by TLM Event\, and endorsed by the Penang State Government and the Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE). It is fully supported by the City Council of Penang Island (MBPP) and Penang Global Tourism (PGT).
