SUMMARY:In Conversation: Living with(out) roots
DESCRIPTION:Join Nova Contemporary for a conversation between the artists Jedsada Tangtrakulwong and Vacharanont Sinvaravatn\, alongside Kritsada Duchsadeewanich\, curator of the Art Centre\, Silpakorn University. \nAs a starting point for this talk\, each speaker visited Benjakiti Forest Park\, once home to a tobacco factory. Despite its central location\, the landmark was unknown to them\, allowing for individual journeys of sensorial novelty. Discussing their first encounters with a new setting\, the three will bring a physical embodiment to the themes of home\, kinship and foreignness seen in Tangtrakulwong and Sinvaravatn’s work. Drawing analogies between the tactile environment and the artists’ imagined visual realities\, “Living with(out) roots” will probe the mercurial processes of artistic creation\, spatial experience\, and identity production\, as well as the propensity for these dynamics to reverse and shift \n*The talk will be conducted in Thai\, no translation will be provided

DESCRIPTION:Panel discussion and Opening of Home Jo int Art Space and art exhibition \n“When Chiang Saen Broke Down” an art exhibition that inspired by a local Lanna document which is a literary form of Lanna poetry that was used to record historical events regarding the expulsion of Burmese power from Lanna territory. It also shows the emotions of both the soldiers who marched to attack\, and prisoners of war who had to leave their homes because they had to accept various tragedies. \nThis art exhibition showcases paintings and conversations to create connections between three generations:\n๐ “Ghosts” as the history of the past that is told through the historical writings of the area “Long Chiang Saen” from the perspective of historical scholars or those who study history\n๐ “Elderly people” as living history who can see the changes of the area “Long Chiang Saen” surrounding from the past to the present\n๐ “New Generation Artists/Children” as people who work in the arts and grew up in the area

SUMMARY:Dramaturgs & Producers
DESCRIPTION:DRAMATURGS & is a new capsule series of roundtable conversations centering the work of and relationship between dramaturgs and their artistic collaborators. Dramaturgical thinking and application is integral in the work of all artists\, yet a dramaturg’s role affords a dedicated lens that can expand and challenge artistic decisions. In cosy and candid sessions\, we aim to unpack the relational\, intricate and often invisible work of dramaturgs in creative processes and within artistic teams. \nThe first conversation kicking off this series is DRAMATURGS & PRODUCERS\, where we explore the working relationships between these two roles. What brings a producer and a dramaturg into a project together and how do they navigate their positionalities in an artistic collaboration? As multi-hyphenate practitioners who identify with both roles\, how do they draw boundaries or ‘switch hats’\, and is that necessary? \nJoin us in this exciting discussion facilitated by Juliet Chia\, and hear from a panel of luminous producers Michele Lim\, Melissa Lim and Fezhah Maznan.
