SUMMARY:Constellation
DESCRIPTION:Constellation is an exhibition exploring the perspectives and practices of nine women artists and creators within the context and background of contemporary society. All works refer to and reflect consciousness\, attitude\, knowledge regarding identity and society\, culture and environment\, time and space. The artworks are created from different energies\, expertise\, unique perspectives\, backgrounds\, and artistic practices of the artists. \nCollecting and presenting the works created for various purposes by 9 artists in the Constellation exhibition depends on the principle that gives importance to seeing and thinking and sending/receiving messages with the visual language of each artwork. We can say each artwork is set on the same site and have a conversation between each other in the exhibition space. These works are unrelated in their meaning and origins\, but a new relation was born. This process creates readings that can be either neutral or specific meaning and may take viewers on a journey to other places whether near and far. \nPARTICIPATING ARTIST: \n\n BUG SPACE 1:\n\nChainapa Lepajarn / Titirat Skultantimayta / Ampannee Satoh / Punyisa Silparatsamee / Imhathai Suwattanasilp \n\n BUG SPACE 2:\n\nNamfon Udomlertlak / Keawalee Warutkomain \n\n SOUTHEAST ASIAN CERAMICS MUSEUM:\n\nChainapa Lepajarn / Likay Bindery

SUMMARY:Arte Laguna Prize
DESCRIPTION:VENEZIA – For 18 years\, the Arte Laguna Prize has been a beacon for uncovering emerging talent in contemporary art from around the world. Each year\, a panel of international experts carefully selects 120 finalists\, including digital artists\, street artists\, designers\, videomakers\, landscape artists\, graphic designers\, performers\, photographers\, sculptors\, and painters. \n  \nWhat makes this year’s edition even more exciting is the growing involvement of forward-thinking companies and institutions in the realm of contemporary art. They are partnering with the Arte Laguna Prize to offer special prizes that not only provide exceptional opportunities for artists but also bring fresh ideas and perspectives to various industries in their quest for innovation. \n  \nOver the years\, many companies have embraced the Arte Laguna Prize initiative. Notably\, in 2007\, Silvano Pierdonà of Capodopera collaborated with artist Annalù to create a limited edition series of artistic sideboards\, showcased at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. More recent collaborations include Bios Line\, which commissioned sculptor Vittorio Mandelli to craft an artistic cedar wood seed sculpture installed at the company’s entrance. Fraccaro Spumadoro also collaborated with artist Amelia Corvino to design the packaging for their Christmas focaccia. Explore our “Business for Art” section for additional examples. \n  \nThe 18th edition of the Arte Laguna Prize has already fostered numerous partnerships. One such collaboration is with Incalmi\, a firm renowned for its research\, design\, and product development in the luxury\, design\, and architecture realms\, known for creating uniquely inspired and crafted objects worldwide. Incalmi invites submissions of works\, projects\, or design products in the fields of lighting\, giftware\, or furniture that incorporate the technique of fire enamel on copper. \n  \nAnother special award comes from PRIMOPIANO CUCINE\, which seeks submissions from artists\, designers\, students\, and creative minds that depict the significance of living well in everyday surroundings. \n  \nFramis Italia is also offering an award for the best artistic proposal involving the use of their new product\, the Framis tape\, in the world of fashion. \n  \nAs autumn arrived\, three more remarkable opportunities have emerged: NoName Studio is offering an artistic residency in Shanghai. \n  \nEnergiapuntozero is presenting a prize for artistic proposals aimed at raising awareness of environmental sustainability. \nIED Group\, School of Higher Education\, is offering one of their courses as a prize. \n  \nGiven the wealth of opportunities\, recently formalized\, the organization has decided to extend the submission deadline to November 22\, 2023\, providing artists with more time to apply for these coveted prizes. \n  \nParticipation has exceeded expectations thus far\, with submissions increasing by as much as 30 percent compared to the previous edition. This surge reflects the flourishing landscape of contemporary art\, offering new horizons for both talented creators and those who recognize and harness that talent\, all while positively impacting society and the environment. \n  \nTo apply\, visit: https://artelagunaprize.com/18th-edition-23-24/ \n  \n  \nThe Arte Laguna Prize finalists and Special Prizes Exhibition takes place every March in the captivating North Arsenal of Venice. This unique venue enhances the artistic heritage of each edition\, offering artists unparalleled visibility in the historical surroundings of the Arsenal\, once Europe’s largest ship factory. The exhibition draws art collectors\, curators\, critics\, gallery owners\, and art enthusiasts. The opening is scheduled for Saturday\, March 2 at 5pm\, and the exhibition will run from March 3 to April 1 from 10am to 6pm daily\, with admission by voluntary donation to the MoCA Association. \n  \nThe substantial prize pool: \n  \nGroup Exhibition at the North Arsenal in Venice\, March 2024 \nGrand Prize of €10\,000 for the Overall Winner \n€3\,000 offered by Incalmi \n€3\,000 offered by PRIMOPIANO CUCINE \n€3\,000 offered by Energiapuntozero \n€2\,000 offered by Framis Italia \n€5\,000 offered by Ied Group \n1 prize offered by KINDL Festival Prize in Berlin\, Germany \n1 prize offered by BJCEM Prize \n1 prize offered by Luisa Catucci Gallery Prize in Berlin \n1 prize offered by Cris Contini Gallery Prize in London \n1 residency offered by Fabrica di Benetton in Treviso\, Italy \n1 residency offered by Tasa in Taiwan \n1 residency offered by NoName Studio in Shanghai\, China \n1 residency offered BigCi in Australia \n1 residency offered NY20+ in China \n1 residency offered Blackholes in Latvia \n1 residency offered CCCA in Ghana \n1 residency offered MoCA in Venice\, Italy \nPermanent visibility on the digital E-commerce platform Arte Laguna World \n  \n  \nDriven by its enduring mission to nurture emerging talent\, and thanks to the support of an extensive network of international collaborations\, Arte Laguna Prize invites artists and designers to submit their work\, embracing the opportunity to become part of this global celebration of contemporary art. \n  \nartelagunaprize.com

This distinctive showcase\, running from 9 March to 15 July 2024\, features an international ensemble of artists who delve into the concept of adaptation in art\, transforming various inspirations into new creations. \nAll the artworks in 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐬 can be considered “adaptations\,” meaning that they respond to stories that the artists have taken from elsewhere. For example\, some artworks are inspired by works of literature and cinema. Other artworks take their cue from historical paintings\, sculptures\, and designs by other artists. Some artworks are also inspired by writings by scholars and theorists. \nDespite this\, all the artworks in the exhibition transform the stories they respond to into something new. In this way\, while they can be considered “adaptations\,” they are not trying to be exact copies of other artworks or literary or cinematic sources. Instead\, they are deliberately “unfaithful” kinds of adaptation\, meaning that they use their artistic license to freely change the look and feel of the stories they are responding to. \nThe concept of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐬 is inspired by two of the artists that are included in the exhibition. They are Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook (b. 1957\, Thailand) and Mieke Bal (b. 1946\, Netherlands). Both artists are world-famous and have exhibited at many prominent platforms internationally. Both artists are also prolific writers\, and their writings as well as ideas from their artworks have inspired the title and curator’s concept for the exhibition. \nThe exhibition also showcases newly commissioned artworks\, including an installation by Fyerool Darma featuring a recording of a séance with a deceased man\, a series of paintings by Ian Tee based on a Chinese mythological tale\, and an artwork by Thao Nguyen Phan\, which reconstructs furniture designed by Vietnamese artist Diem Phung Thi\, serving as seating for visitors to engage with the displayed works. This approach is inspired by the writings and artworks of Mieke Bal and Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook. Additional pieces include videos and films by internationally acclaimed artists like Mieke Bal\, CAMP\, and Chulayarnnon Siriphol\, as well as an early silent film from Spain showcasing extended sword-fighting scenes\, created in 1908 by Ricardo de Baños & Alberto Marro. \nOriginally exhibited at Nanyang Technological University’s ADM Gallery in Singapore\, this exhibition was made possible with the support of Jim Thompson and Quu Hotel.

SUMMARY:CONTEMPORARY VENICE - 14TH EDITION
DESCRIPTION:CALL FOR ARTISTS\nCONTEMPORARY VENICE – 14TH EDITION\nVenice | March 15 – 29\, 2024\nDeadline: February 29\, 2024 \nITSLIQUID Group\, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association\, is pleased to announce the open call for the 14th edition of CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2024 that will take place in Venice at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello from March 15 to March 29\, 2024\, and in other prestigious venues and historical buildings. \nThe 14th edition of CONTEMPORARY VENICE analyzes the relationship between body and space\, and the hybridization between identities and cultural/physical/social/urban settings in contemporary times\, through two main sections: MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES. \nMIXING IDENTITIES analyzes the hidden parts of our identities\, through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness. The human body is a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality; a strong communication system with its language and infinite ways of expression. \nFUTURE LANDSCAPES are abstract\, infinite and conceptual\, associated with a sense of freedom and infinite extension. Primarily experienced with the mind\, spaces redefine their limits and borders\, transforming surfaces into an open flow of pure ideas. This section focuses on the concept of the borders and the structures between body\, mind and soul\, the human identity and the city\, the space and the ground.

SUMMARY:Nomadic
DESCRIPTION:A group exhibition curated by Dr. Vennes Cheng for Jim Thompson Art Center\, Bangkok \nNomad refers to individuals who lack a fixed habitation and instead move from place to place. Appropriating the concept of nomadic existence\, this exhibition reimagines the fluidity of one’s identity and the multitude of homelands\, which are fundamental conditions of Asia. The notion and composition of Asia are intertwined with the histories of human displacement. Wars\, conflicts\, and disputes in the region have compelled people to leave their places of birth and resettle in other countries. Human displacement represents both the past and the ongoing circumstances in Asia. \nThe selected artworks by participating artists from Thailand\, Singapore\, Indonesia\, Japan\, Taiwan\, and Hong Kong form a constellation that investigates and highlights the histories of human displacement in Asia\, particularly in the eastern and southwestern regions. This exhibition also seeks to delineate the connections and relationships between various parts of the region and proposes a plural lens to discern the multiculturalism of Asia\, emphasising that community and identity are social articulations of differences. It ultimately aims to mediate discussions surrounding the current circumstances of Southeast Asia and Hong Kong and to render imaginary one another’s reference points in the region. \nList of artists: \nHikaru Fujii (Japan) \nJiandyin (Thailand) \nLaw Yuk Mui (Hong Kong) \nLin Yichi (Taiwan) \nSim Chi Yin (Singapore\, New York based) \nTsang Kin-Wah (Hong Kong) \nTsao Liang-pin (Taiwan) \nTintin Wulia (Indonesia\, Sweden based)

SUMMARY:Landscape of Emptiness
DESCRIPTION:Landscape of Emptiness\, a solo exhibition\, by Sanitas Pradittasnee \nCurated by Kritsada Duchsadeevanich \nWhen we are in the situation and time of absentmindedly staring at the possibility of “truth”\, we will see a thin smog of emptiness. The emptiness is not naked\, though. The origin of this emptiness stems from the condition of letting go\, liberating or disappearing from existence. The emptiness\, with its boundless horizons\, is an abstract\, endless time and infinite universe in a faraway distance. At the same time\, to perceive this condition\, we need to be aware of “what” exists. The boundary of emptiness\, thus\, plays a crucial role in unveiling this evanescence leading to the state of emptiness. \nLandscape of Emptiness by Sanitas Pradittasnee creates a condition through which the audience enters a state of emptiness\, taking them into specific situations of space and time to venture into the concept of seeking truth in the frontier or “perimeter” of abstraction. The cloud of existence takes the audience down the path of the truth of time\, where everything perishes\, leaving only emptiness. \n

SUMMARY:CALL FOR ARTISTS: ANIMA MUNDI 2024
DESCRIPTION:ITSLIQUID Group\, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association\, is pleased to announce the open call for ANIMA MUNDI 2024\, an international exhibition of photography\, painting\, video art\, installation/sculpture\, and performance art\, that will be held in Venice\, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello and in other prestigious venues and historical buildings\, from April to June 2024\, during the 60th Venice Biennale of Art. \nThe last edition of ANIMA MUNDI took place in Venice in 2022\, presenting a great selection of more than 500 art works realized by 250 artists\, coming from 40 countries. The festival focuses on the concept of ANIMA MUNDI\, which according to several historical cultures\, religions and philosophical systems\, is an intrinsic connection between all living entities on the planet\, which relates to the world in a similar way as the human soul is connected to the human body. \nPlato expressed his thought about the ANIMA MUNDI in the Timaeus\, “this world is indeed a living being endowed with a soul and intelligence… a single visible living entity containing all other living entities\, which by their nature are all related”.
