24-Hour Playwriting Competition 2022

After stimulating site visits to Green Circle Eco-Farm or Magorium to kick off your journey, you will write your script in the comfort of your own home. But you won’t go at it alone. All participants and organisers will be a part of a Telegram community, where conversations and meals over text, voice calls or video calls can take place. This virtual gathering site offers room for support, play, and resource-sharing alongside your writing process.

In classic competition tradition, the themed element will be revealed on the day of the competition, and various stimuli will be provided throughout the 24 hours, which you will need to incorporate into your script. Your submitted script can be a 10 to 20 min performance piece (est. 8-15 pages). We welcome you to let your imagination run wild — to write plays for stage, digital and hybrid possibilities.

Winners may get a chance to see their winning entries staged by T:>Works! An added bonus: mentorship and support by established playwrights, directors, actors and producers to develop the works for either ‘live’ and/or digital stages.

Competition Categories:

Youth: 15–18 years old

Open: 19 years and above

First Prize: S$350

Second Prize: S$250

Third Prize: S$150
